Did you know that as well as being Father’s day, today is the last day of Men’s health week?

This year men’s health week is all about belly fat. Having a large amount of belly fat increases your risk of cardiovascular disease, colorectal cancer, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, stroke, erectile dysfunction and death from all causes! Wow! Those are some pretty compelling reasons to take action against belly fat.

The message is clear. Be more active, eat a healthy balanced diet and keep the booze in check.

Coincidentally, I reckon I’ve set a good example today, having done 32,000 steps. An hour’s cardio first thing, a 3 hour walk with the dogs, a lawn mow and an arms and calves workout has seen me burn 4,500 calories.

All you fathers out there…. how have you got on today? What have you done in the fight against belly fat? Don’t worry if it’s not much – if there’s one day when Fathers should chill out, it’s today!
